Laurence PERRATZI

Biography

Laurence Perratzi is a figurative artist exploring the body's expression. Her work is a reflection on movement strongly influenced by her athletic background where poise and balance are paramount. The figures challenge gravity with subtle poses or sometimes snapshot of body in action.
In the circle series the figure is using the latter as a frame, a support or an accessory. Again, Laurence is continuously researching for movement, lightness, energy and spontaneity in contrast with static poses often represented in sculpture. Her Trees are an explosion of joy and freedom where she gives way to her fantasies, battles with materials such as plaster, wood, straw, jesmonite, achieving intimate
and powerful sculptures. "Being able to express yourself with no boundaries or constraint is a rare privilege and I feel like today is still the beginning of my artistic journey as sculpting is an endless evolution process." Most of Laurence's work is bronze, in limited edition of 8, except her Trees which are unique editions. Laurence Perratzi graduated from a French business school in 1993 and has since been travelling all over the world. She lived in Paris, Hong Kong, San Francisco and now in London. She decided to move away from business in 2001 and dedicate herself to her true passion sculpture.
