Filippo
TINCOLINI
Biography
Filippo Tincolini is an Italian artist who expresses himself within the language of sculpture. Born in 1976 in Pontedera, Tuscany, after attending numerous foundries and workshops dedicated to marble in Pietrasanta, he studied “Sculpture” at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara.
In 2001 he then opened his own workshop in Fantiscritti,
at the foot of the marble quarries, where he still creates his works.
It is precisely the territory of Carrara, a city where the artist
has lived and worked for many years, that has strongly
impacted his plastic research, mainly returned through the
privileged material of white statuary marble.
Tincolini’s art stems from a strong spirit of research and
experimentation that leads the artist to explore the possibilities born from the fusion of technological innovation and artistic tradition, facing an ongoing challenge with the matter.
The result are symbolic and at times surreal works, perfectly polished and highly refined in their attention to detail, that fuse together worlds even far apart to create aesthetic and conceptual bridges between different places and times.
Through his sculpture, in fact, the artist monumentalizes the liquidity of our contemporaneity, masterfully interweaving high culture and pop aesthetics, learned quotations extrapolated from art history and images taken from the consumerist present, high aesthetic impact and conceptual depth, lightness and irony.
This gives rise to works with a strong stage presence that are meant to amaze and, at the same time, make people think, stimulating - through multiple narratives and possible readings - a reflection on the human condition.
Filippo Tincolini is currently represented by private galleries and carries on his exhibition activity in public and private spaces.
He is often called upon to participate in international meetings on the subject of the language of sculpture and the use of new technologies applied to the art world.
